CUTTING EDGE EXTERIOR STYLING

Wind-cheating features begin up-front with a narrower hood and grille design that cuts neatly through the air. A-pillar turning vanes create less wake next to side windows and smooths airflow around the cab. Integrated front air dams, redesigned chassis fairings, and optional 28-inch side extenders work in tandem to keep airflow tight to the truck. Tandem axle fairings combine with wind-slick wheel covers to reduce turbulence around the rear wheels and on to the trailer.

Unmistakable side turn indicators: A 17.3”-long LED side turn indicator, mounted to the trailing edge of the hood, increases visibility for surrounding traffic.

Kenworth started the journey by integrating engineering teams, aerodynamic experts and the styling department to push the boundaries of truck design and continued the development by involving over 100 truck drivers to produce the T680.

DIGITAL MIRRORS

The new Kenworth Digital Mirror System improves T680 fuel economy by up to 1.5% and enhances driver visibility by providing a clearer and wider view around the truck – during the day, at night, and in inclement weather. The large high-def interior displays put the mirror view image in an easier-to-see position keeping the driver's eyes closer to the road. Technology innovations allow you to track your trailer around a corner or while backing – through any driving environment.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL WITH STOP AND AUTO GO

Reads traffic conditions via front-facing radar sensor and modulates the throttle and the brakes to keep your truck at a pre-set distance from the vehicle in front of it.

When a truck follows a lead vehicle in cruise control, this enhancement enables the system to apply braking to maintain a safe following distance and will bring the truck to a complete stop, if necessary, and will hold the truck in place. When the truck can move forward, it will automatically accelerate to the vehicle set speed without driver intervention and maintain a safe following distance.

COLLISION MITIGATION

Detects when the truck may be about to collide with another vehicle or object, alerts the driver and takes pre-emptive braking action — when necessary — to avoid or considerably reduce the severity of a crash.

SIDE OBJECT DETECTION

Constantly monitors a truck’s blind spots and provides the driver with audible and visual alerts when an object or vehicle has entered these zones — invaluable when making a lane change or negotiating tight delivery sites.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING

This system continually monitors the truck’s location related to lane markings and automatically emits a distinctive audible warning whenever an unintended lane change (unsignaled) is detected — alerting the driver to make a correction.

HIGHWAY DEPARTURE BRAKING

The Highway Departure Braking to Zero feature will provide an audible chime and apply braking to reduce vehicle speed if the vehicle begins departing the roadway. In some circumstances, the system may reduce the vehicle speed to a full stop until the driver re-engages.

LANE KEEPING ASSIST

This system uses the Bendix Fusion camera to monitor the truck’s location related to the lane markings and provides a nudge to correct the direction of the truck. This includes Torque Assisted Steering and is active above 37 mph. It includes hands on detection to ensure the driver is paying attention.

Torque Assisted Steering

Torque Assisted Steering is an adaptive steering technology featuring an electric motor control system that works with the hydraulic gear to improve the driving experience. It adjusts torque based on vehicle speed, easing effort at low speeds while firming at higher speeds to provide a consistent feel.

It can be tailored to the driver’s preference with three levels of assistance controlled by a conveniently positioned dash switch. This allows the driver to dial in the system so that it works for them.
