KIRKLAND, Wash., Jan. 28, 2010 – Kenworth has announced plans to attend and display an aerodynamic Kenworth T660 with 2010 emissions engine at the Technology and Maintenance Council’s (TMC) annual meeting at the Tampa Convention Center in Florida, Feb. 9-12.
Kenworth’s booth will feature a new 2011 model Kenworth T660 recently placed into service in Charlotte, N.C., by Heritage Transport, which is based in Indianapolis. Heritage Transport is the transportation arm of Heritage Environmental Services LLC (www.heritage-enviro.com), one of the nations largest privately held hazardous waste management and recycling companies with 17 locations. The fleet’s Kenworth T660 is on a full-service lease from Cooper Leasing, a PacLease franchise in Charlotte, N.C.

“We’re pleased to have Kenworth display our T660 at TMC,” said Dean DeSantis, president of Heritage Transport. “When we began looking to replace our fleet, we made the conscious decision to hold off until we could purchase new models with new 2010 engine technology. As a leader in environmental waste disposal, in which we’ve developed several patented processes to turn hazardous materials into re-usable products, we believe in sustainability and being green. We feel the aerodynamic, fuel-efficient Kenworth T660 with its inherent environmental benefit, combined with the 2010 SCR engine which promises to deliver better fuel economy than previous engines, demonstrate that commitment.”
The Kenworth T660 with 72-inch AeroCab® sleeper being showcased has been spec’d to meet EPA SmartWay certification. Powered by a Cummins ISX engine rated at 485 hp and driven through a 10-speed transmission, the tractor utilizes Bridgestone tires with fuel-efficient compounds and has an all-electric idle-control system to reduce engine idling to near zero. With the new Cummins engine, fuel efficiency is expected to be improved by upwards of 3 percent.
