NANAIMO, B.C., November 19, 2007 – When Inland Kenworth in British Columbia opened its latest facility, the goals were to enhance customer support, expand business, and provide an environmentally friendly dealership. Inland Kenworth - Nanaimo has succeeded in all accounts, and recently marked its first year of operation with a grand opening event.

“We’re very proud of our new facility in Nanaimo,” said Jim Beiderwieden, Inland Group president in Burnaby, B.C. “It represents our continuing commitment to provide Kenworth customers with The World’s Best trucks and service. By incorporating green measures into the dealership’s design and operation, Inland Kenworth also leads the way in helping to reduce the industry’s impact on the environment.”

“Our facility has been recognized for its innovative green design and features by the City of Nanaimo,” said Al Gendron, Inland Kenworth - Nanaimo’s branch manager, who noted that the dealership was highlighted as a leader in the city’s “Showcasing Green Infrastructure Innovation” program.

Inland Kenworth – Nanaimo uses an innovative water run-off reclamation system, which carries rainwater and snowmelt from the roof via a sluice box onto a rock garden, then through a man-made streambed to the local drainage system. Parking lot run-off is stored in large settling ponds. The facility has a high-intensity lighting system that saves energy by automatically adjusting to ambient outdoor lighting conditions. Washroom lights are activated by motion. The facility also retains the existing tree buffer.

A member of the Kenworth dealer network of nearly 300 locations in Canada and the United States, Inland Kenworth - Nanaimo maintains its Pacific Northwest heritage with its new location on a 9-acre wooded site. The new facility is more than 33,000 square feet in size, or nearly three times larger than the former facility, and provides enhanced support with 12 service bays, 1,200 square-foot parts department, increased parts storage, and a large, indoor showroom with a truck display. The larger location offers more selections from the complete line of Kenworth premium trucks, including the dealership’s traditional best sellers, the Kenworth T800 and the Kenworth W900; and new medium duty products.

“We’re very pleased so far with the increase in business compared to the former location,” said Gendron. “We expect to see even more customers come through our doors, particularly as more people learn about the many new Kenworth products and convenient access.”

Kenworth Truck Company’s dedication to the environment and the “green fleet” includes the Kenworth Clean Power® no-idle system, EPA SmartWay™ program, medium duty hybrid trucks, and Kenworth T800 liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks.

Kenworth’s quality products, combined with excellent dealer support from dealers like Inland Kenworth, contributed to Kenworth’s reception of three 2007 J.D. Power and Associates awards for “Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Over The Road, Pickup and Delivery and Vocational Segment Class 8 Trucks.”*

Inland Kenworth - Nanaimo is located off Provincial Route 19 (also known as the Nanaimo Parkway) at 2365 Northfield Road in Nanaimo. The dealership is open from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. The phone number is (250) 758-5288 or toll-free at (800) 565-6960.
